Psychotherapist Lauren Newman

LAPC, MA, MEd

My professional journey began in education, where I taught and led diverse groups of children and teens. From rural classrooms to inner-city programs with Project H.O.M.E. and later as principal of a Simon Youth Academy, I have supported young people through both academic and personal challenges. These experiences shaped my belief in the power of authentic connection, support, and resilience. I bring these values, along with my lived and learned insights and compassion, into my psychotherapy with adults, teens, and couples.

My focus naturally centers on relationships – with partners, family, friends, and most importantly, with ourselves. The therapeutic approaches I utilize most are Relational Life Therapy (RLT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT emphasizes accepting your present while making meaningful changes to move closer to your desired future. RLT emphasizes the needs of our relationships as well as the needs of our individual selves. RLT aims to explore our adaptive behaviors and teach skills to regain balance and repair with others. I will be a fully certified Relational Life Therapist in late 2026.

Beyond my professional pursuits, I love playing the drums in a working rock and roll cover band at spring-fall outdoor events. Maybe you've seen us play.
