Psychotherapist Lauren Newman

LAPC, MA, MEd

My professional journey began in education, where I taught and led diverse groups of children and teens. From rural classrooms to inner-city programs with Project H.O.M.E. and later as principal of Simon Youth Academy, I supported young people through both academic and personal challenges. These experiences shaped my belief in the power of guidance, resilience, and authentic connection—values I now bring to my psychotherapy.

Additionally, I bring my insights and deep empathy, both lived and learned, into my work with adults.

My focus naturally centers on relationships – with partners, family, friends, and most importantly, with ourselves. The therapeutic approaches I utilize, Relational Life Therapy (RLT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), both emphasize accepting your present while making meaningful changes to move closer to your desired future. These changes occur relationally, strengthening your connection with yourself and with others. Living relationally means recognizing the importance of relationships, respecting your own needs and the needs of those around you, and cultivating healthier, more fulfilling interactions.

Beyond my professional pursuits, I love playing the drums in a rock and roll cover band.
